Microsoft Releases PowerShell 1.0
November 15th, 2006 . by joe
This is an odd product. It’s a new command shell and dynamic scripting engine that can be added to XP or 2003. It’s currently not compatible with Vista.
I guess this is what used to be the MSH product that Microsoft pulled out of Vista after a vulnerability was found in it a year or two ago.
Bob Muglia, Microsoft’s vice president of servers and tools, announced today the official release of PowerShell, an interactive command shell and dynamic scripting engine designed to simplify automation and administrative tasks on the Windows platform. Built to leverage Microsoft’s .NET API, PowerShell exposes internal system functionality and gives system administrators more flexible mechanisms for manipulating Windows.
