Well, this sucks. It looks like Textamerica is going to become a fee-only service and will delete all old moblogs belonging to people who do not pay what they ask for. This sucks. I personally have a lot of content on my moblog site.
A quote from Textamerica:
Update to the TA Community insiders: Due to the complicated nature of the planned upcoming move to a private paid members only community, changes will not be formally announced until sometime in August. Current ‘free sites’ will be suspended starting July 1 with a planned deletion scheduled for the fall 2006. DO NOT QUESTION me about these changes as NOTHING will be said in advance of the official notices. THANK YOU for your consideration in this regard. From *Janet on June 8, 2006 2:30am
For people looking to save their photos, I’d recommend takeing a look at MoblogImport [Mirror].

Ever feel too lazy to get up off of your ass and buy groceries? Me neither but you can now buy your Mac and Cheese or your Maple Syrup from the same folks that sell you discount textbooks. I’m not sure how willing people will be to buy (even non-perishable) groceries via Amazon.

This is cool. AOL is offering free local phone numbers that you can link to your AIM account. If someone calls the number while your online, you can answer the call via AIM. If your offline, they can leave a voicemail and then the recording is emailed to you. If you want to make an outgoing call via AIM, they charge you $10 per month for unlimited calling to 30 countries. I really wanna try this.

Have you ever watched a business fail and thought to yourself that you would of done things better? Something tells me that Robert Pazornik, CEO of new San Francisco-based LicketyShip had that idea.
Do you remember Kozmo? Me neither but Kozmo was an “immediate delivery” eCommerce site launched in 1998 that offered free delivery, within an hour, of anything you want from magazines to a DVD player. Of course, with such an insane business plan, they burned through $280 million in venture capital and then closed their doors in 2001.
Well Robert Pazornik is going to try the idea again. Pazornik saw that 30% of Amazon orders are shipped using overnight shipping, signaling that there is people out there who are willing to pay a big premium for quick delivery. LicketyShip is going to offer ~20,000 items via their site to people in select markets. When you buy something from their site, you pay around $20 for shipping. They dispatch a courier to a local retailer to purchase the item, and then they deliver it to you within two hours.
Will it work? Only time will tell.
