It’s not a secret that I think the iPhone is a complete waste of money but I am a fan of the idea of being able to do what you want with what you pay good money for. I guess Jon Lech Johansen’s hack makes it so that you can use everything on the phone except the phone.
I’ve found a way to activate a brand new unactivated iPhone without giving any of your money or personal information to
AT&TNSA. The iPhone does not have phone capability, but the iPod and WiFi work.…

John W. Backus, who assembled and led the I.B.M. team that created Fortran, the first widely used programming language, which helped open the door to modern computing, died on Saturday at his home in Ashland, Ore. He was 82.

Slashdot and PC World are both reporting that GoDaddy was unprepared for the change in day light savings time. All of my sites are hosted by GoDaddy and steinbring.net was unreachable for a while earlier today. GoDaddy has always been great about everything since I switched to them. I’m kinda surprised that they weren’t more prepared.
