Chinese iPhone Clone: Meizu M8

published on February 1st, 2007 . by joe

I think this one can truly be considered a clone.  Looks like it’s got good specs though.  It runs WinCE 6.0, has a 3-megapixel camera, 3.3-inch VGA+ screen, 720 by 480 screen resolution, GSM support, and TV-out.

An iPhone “Clone”?

published on January 17th, 2007 . by joe

Hmm.  It looks like LG is preparing a phone, the KE850, which is being called by some, including David Pogue, an iPhone “clone”.  Why is it an iPod clone?  It’s black (unlike any other phone except the iPhone) and it’s got a touch screen.  Does that make the Treo 750 an iPhone clone also?  Apple fanboys just piss me off sometimes.

Well, it looks like there is very minimal info about the phone.  There’s just a few photos and a video.  Looks kinda cool though.

Cisco Sues Apple Over ‘iPhone’ Trademark

published on January 10th, 2007 . by joe

Ha.

Cisco had said yesterday that it had been in negotiations with Apple to license the iPhone name, which it was using in connection with its Linksys Internet phone, after repeated requests by Apple, and that with the announcement of the iPhone, they expected Apple to agree to its conditions and sign the agreement that day.

Apparently they didn’t.

Month O’ Apple Bugs

published on December 19th, 2006 . by joe

This may force Apple to open their eye to the fact that they are not indestructible but as an owner of a G4 PowerBook, I am a little worried.

A pair of security researchers has picked January 2007 as the starting point for a month-long project in which each passing day will feature a previously undocumented security hole in Apple’s OS X operating system or in Apple applications that run on top of it.
