A convicted Vietnamese robber who escaped from prison 20 years ago chose a sly way to hide from the law — inside the police force and as a member of the ruling Communist Party.A police newspaper reported Friday that Ngo Thanh Tam, 51, was re-arrested Tuesday, two decades after joining the police under a false identity in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong.

I was afraid that something like this would happen.
Israeli commandos raided a Hizbollah stronghold in eastern Lebanon on Saturday, which U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said violated a U.N.-backed truce that ended Israel’s 34-day war with the Shi’ite guerrillas.
“The secretary-general is deeply concerned about a violation by the Israeli side of the cessation of hostilities as laid out in Security Council resolution 1701,” a spokesman for Annan said in a statement posted on the United Nations Web site.

A former schoolteacher was arrested Wednesday in Thailand in the slaying of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey - a surprise breakthrough in a lurid, decade-old murder mystery that had cast a cloud of suspicion over her parents.Federal officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, identified the suspect as John Mark Karr, a 42-year-old American, and one law enforcement official told The Associated Press that Boulder police had tracked him down online. The Ramsey family’s attorney in Atlanta pronounced the arrest vindication for JonBenet’s parents, John and Patsy Ramsey. Patsy Ramsey died of ovarian cancer on June 24.

A “Presidential Bust” of U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton was unveiled on Wednesday at New York’s Museum of Sex, where sculptor Daniel Edwards hopes it will spark discussion about sex, politics and celebrity.
Edwards, the artist who also created a life-size nude of Britney Spears giving birth on a bear-skin rug, said he wanted to capture Clinton’s age and femininity in the sculpture.
